COMMISSION

Matthew R. Paden enthusiastically welcomes opportunities to create custom fine art paintings for a diverse range of clients, including private collectors, art museums, corporate entities, hotels, investment groups, and art syndicates.

Due to his commitment to developing new works for public exhibitions and art shows, Matt's availability for commissioned pieces is limited to seven per year.

Commissioning a painting is a significant milestone in a client's journey, representing a collaborative endeavor with an accomplished artist. It offers a luxurious and meaningful experience, resulting in a truly unique creation.

Commissioning a fine art piece extends beyond personal legacy to leave an imprint on the broader world, transcending familial boundaries.

Such a commission serves as a symbol of the patron's individual accomplishments, ties to cherished relationships, personal evolution, and their role in contributing to a greater collective narrative.

The Process of Commissioning a Painting

Initial Consultation:

During the initial discussion, the theme, color palette, and dimensions are established based on the client's preferences or suggestions provided by Matthew R. Paden, the commissioned artist.

Clients may choose to supply objects to be depicted in the painting, or Matt may propose objects based on his artistic vision.

All aspects of the commission are thoroughly discussed upfront and executed in line with the artist's distinctive style and interpretation.

For commissioned portraits of living individuals, a brief photo session lasting approximately 30 minutes is required, along with a few additional live sittings as the artwork nears completion.

If the commissioned portrait is to be based on a photograph, the client must select and provide the chosen image to the artist for the duration of the painting process.

Medium:

All commissioned paintings will be rendered in acrylic on professional grade cotton canvas, utilizing Matthew's contemporary abstract style.

Timeframe:

The creation of high-quality fine art is a meticulous process, reflecting the dedication and craftsmanship required for enduring value.

The timeframe for each commission varies depending on factors such as the artwork's size, complexity, and the number of subjects involved, all of which are discussed prior to commencement.

This timeframe can range from a weeks up to several months, ensuring the meticulous attention to detail necessary for exceptional results.

Price of Commissioned Artwork

Pricing for the fine art commission is determined and finalized during the initial discussion with the client.

The price is tailored to reflect the desired dimensions, intricacy of subjects, and level of detail involved in creating the commissioned artwork.

Upon agreement, a non-refundable down payment of 50% of the total purchase price is required at the time of signing the commission contract.

Once this initial payment is received, work on the commissioned painting begins.

The remaining 50% is due upon completion of the artwork and prior to its handover to the client.

Matthew R. Paden, as the commissioned artist, provides a comprehensive tax invoice upon confirmation of the full payment.

Framing, Delivery and Installation

Spontaneous Realism Lucy Ball by Matthew R. Paden

The expenses associated with framing, delivery, and installation are distinct from the price of the fine art commission.

Framing is integral to the proper presentation of the artwork and is deliberated and agreed upon by both the artist and the client within the Commission Contract.

Should framing, installation, or delivery services be necessary, the client assumes financial responsibility for these aspects.

Investing in professional framing is crucial to complement the quality of the artwork itself, and Matt is available to offer professional guidance on selecting the appropriate framing for your commissioned piece.

Art Commission Contract:

Formalizing the fine art commission requires a contract to ensure mutual respect and understanding between both parties.

This contract encompasses all discussed details, including the subject matter, size, and medium of the artwork, pricing, payment deadlines, and any other pertinent terms.
