James Douglas Morrison was the lead singer and lyricist for the influential rock band The Doors. Known as “the Lizard King”, Morrison cultivated a mysterious persona that contrasted with the 1960s counterculture.
The Doors became famous for their unique sound, blending blues, jazz, and rock with dark, introspective lyrics. Morrison was also a poet who some say wrote like a hippie version of Edgar Allan Poe.
