our design process

how we approach projects

Great brands don't happen by accident. They're built through thoughtful questions, clear decisions, and a willingness to look beyond the obvious.

At Pink Coyote, the process is designed to uncover what makes your business different—and turn those discoveries into a brand identity that feels unmistakably yours. We don't begin with a logo. We begin with understanding.

Every project is different, but the approach remains the same: discover what matters, develop what works, and deliver a brand you can actually use.

01 — Discover & Define

before we design anything, we get curious.

The strongest identities aren't created by guessing what looks good. They're built by understanding the business, the people behind it, and the people it's trying to reach.

We begin by exploring your vision, goals, audience, competition, personality, and the opportunities in front of you. We'll talk about where your business is today, where you want it to go, and what may be getting in the way.

This is where we start separating what your brand is from what you simply want it to look like.

Through conversation and creative discovery, we identify the ideas, characteristics, and positioning that can give your brand a meaningful point of view.

We look for the details that are easy to overlook—the personality, quirks, stories, ambitions, and distinctions that can become powerful creative territory.

what we're looking for:

  • What makes your business genuinely different

  • Who you're trying to reach and what matters to them

  • How your brand should feel, sound, and behave

  • Where your current identity may be falling short

  • Opportunities to create greater distinction

  • The ideas and characteristics worth building the brand around

02 — Design & Develop

with the foundation
established, the design
process begins.

This is where strategy becomes visual language.

Depending on the scope of your project, that may include logo and wordmark development, alternative marks, typography, color, imagery, illustration, mascot development, supporting graphics, and the other visual elements that help your brand become recognizable.

But the goal isn't simply to create a collection of attractive assets.

Every element should have a reason to exist.

A great logo needs a supporting system. A distinctive color palette needs to work in the real world. Typography needs to feel like the brand. Imagery and illustration need to reinforce its personality.

The pieces should work independently while becoming even stronger together.

Rather than jumping straight into a predetermined solution, we explore the visual territory that best expresses your brand.

Ideas are developed, challenged, refined, and shaped into an identity with personality and purpose.

we develop:

  • Logo and wordmark systems

  • Alternative marks and icons

  • Typography and color systems

  • Mascots and character development

  • Supporting visual language

  • Art direction and imagery

  • Social and digital applications

  • Brand messaging and voice where appropriate

Throughout the process, you'll have opportunities to review the work, ask questions, and provide feedback. Collaboration isn't an interruption to the creative process—it's part of it.

The result: A distinctive visual identity built around a clear idea rather than a collection of disconnected design decisions.

03 — Deliver & Deploy

a brand isn't finished when the files are exported.

It's finished when you know how to use it.

Once the identity is established, we bring the pieces together into a cohesive brand system designed for real-world use.

You'll receive the appropriate final assets and applications for your project, organized so you can confidently take your brand into the world—whether that's launching a website, printing packaging, creating social content, producing merchandise, or simply making sure everything looks like it belongs to the same brand.

Where appropriate, your project may also include brand guidelines that explain how the identity should be used, helping preserve consistency as your business grows.

The goal is simple: you shouldn't have to wonder what your brand is supposed to look like every time you use it.

your final brand toolkit may include:

  • Final logo files and variations

  • Color and typography specifications

  • Brand guidelines

  • Social media assets

  • Digital and print applications

  • Mascot assets and approved variations

  • Brand templates or supporting graphics

  • Organized production-ready files

  • Commercial usage rights based on your project scope

More importantly, you'll leave with a brand that has a clear visual point of view—and the tools to carry that point of view forward.

The result: A cohesive, flexible brand system that gives you the confidence to show up consistently wherever your business appears.

more than a logo

A logo is an important part of a brand. But it isn't the brand.

A successful identity creates recognition, communicates personality, establishes expectations, and gives people something to remember.

That's why the work at Pink Coyote goes beyond making something look good. We look for the idea behind the identity—then build the visual system around it.

Because when strategy, design, and personality are working together, your brand doesn't just look different.

It feels different.

a collaborative process, not a conveyor belt

You won't be handed a questionnaire, disappear into a black box, and reappear weeks later with a logo.

Pink Coyote projects are collaborative by design. There are conversations, discoveries, creative explorations, decisions, and refinements along the way.

My role is to bring the experience, strategy, and creative perspective needed to move the project forward. Your role is to bring the knowledge only you have: your business, your audience, your ambitions, and your perspective.

The best work happens when those two things meet.

You know your business. I know how to turn what makes it special into a brand people can see, recognize, and remember.
